Production Supervisor, Overhauls & Pumps
The Production Supervisor oversees and directs the disassembly, inspection, repair and machining, re-assembly of reciprocating compressor and pump components, including scheduling of all jobs, establishing daily/weekly priorities and revisions to the schedule based on urgent projects. Ensures both quality workmanship in all overhaul and pump project activities and safe working processes are adhered to. Focuses on maximizing productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness in all processes while meeting scheduled or promised delivery dates to customers. Supports the Business Development Department to assist their quoting/estimating and sales administration activities for customer service. Provides personal leadership to enhance production team members’ productivity and results and to create positive and productive relationships with all internal and external parties to maximize organizational effectiveness and results.
Responsibilities
- Participates in weekly department meetings to review weekly results; discuss production schedule, upcoming projects, priority jobs etc.
- Leads or co-leads daily Production staff meetings to review current jobs status, new jobs, priorities for the shift, confirming quality and safety procedures are understood, and to set the direction for the day.
- Performs a daily ongoing evaluation of productivity by conducting multiple daily walk-arounds on the shop floor to confirm job progress, identify any scheduling issues, and ensure adherence to safety processes and procedures.
- Ensures all required materials for customers jobs are in stock or quickly available to meet production and delivery schedules.
- Identifies any jobs requiring external sub-contractors for specialized services (heat treating, special coatings, etc.) and secures pricing and delivery commitment to perform the work.
- Reviews quality inspection results to ensure operators are consistently meeting all quality standards specified. Determines any required operator training or supervision to ensure any required improvements are supported.
- Provides on-going implementation, support and priority for quality assurance in all production processes and output including the implementation of process controls and documentation.
- Oversee machining tools stock and supplies ensuring adequate in-house inventory to ensure continuous production and submit requests for new equipment / tools / repairs to Director, Production & Inventory for review and approval.
- Oversee the shop equipment corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance schedules to maximize equipment productivity and uptime.
- Regularly reviews work orders and supporting documentation to confirm completeness and comprehensiveness for the successful execution of production work.
- Regularly reviews Operator/Assemblers completed job paperwork to confirm accuracy, completeness and to ensure is suitable for use by Sales Administrators and Accounting Department personnel.
- Initiates orientation, on-boarding, training and mentoring for all new department staff.
- Conducts annual written & verbal performance reviews/evaluations for all direct reports.
- Identifies and initiates a development plan for direct reports – including formal learning, apprenticeship training, skill development, and individual coaching.
- Ensures the corporate values / standards of business conduct / organizational health and safety policies and procedures / human resource philosophy is understood, embraced and implemented throughout the department, and personally demonstrates them in daily interactions and relationships.

Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma. Post secondary education in a technical trade considered an asset.
- Work Experience: 10+ Years preferred. Relevant experience in the industry or in a similar supervisory role preferred.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills. Technical ability with keen attention to detail. Organizational and time-management skills. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and work under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge: Rotating Equipment. Reciprocating Compressor components and pump fundamentals an asset.
